I'm Barra, a seasoned business professional from Ashbourne, Co. Meath, with over 19 years of diverse experience in accountancy and business. My journey has taken me through a variety of company sizes, industries, and roles, including international stints and local engagements. I've had the privilege of working with Fortune 500 companies in the United States and being involved with start-up businesses back home in Ireland.In 2020, I embarked on a new venture, setting up my own consultancy. My focus? To support start-ups and SMEs in crucial areas such as profitability, cash flow, strategy, and planning for growth. This decision came after a rich career journey. I started in public practice, moved into professional services, and then took a leap to explore the world. I spent a memorable year in Australia before relocating to the United States in 2010. My time in the US was particularly enlightening; I worked as a consultant across various industries, from engineering and chemical films to medical devices, industrial coatings, and even a cookie bakery.Now, my primary focus is on nurturing start-ups and SMEs through consulting and mentoring. I've had the opportunity to mentor start-ups across Meath, Dublin, Kildare, Leitrim, Kilkenny, and Wexford, aiding them in areas like obtaining funding, recordkeeping, business planning, and general strategy. My past roles have been diverse; I've been a Financial Controller in fashion retail and in the renewable energy/waste disposal sector. Earlier, as an outsourced accountant, I supported clients in preparing their monthly management accounts.It's a journey that has been both challenging and rewarding, and I am passionate about using my experience to help others grow and succeed in their business ventures.
